SwimRun half marathon
The pivotal point is Ottenstein Castle, which offers a unique panorama for the start and finish, as well as registration, award ceremony, race briefing and the final banquet in a medieval setting.
The participants over the half-marathon distance experience the most important part of the Ottenstein reservoir with its untouched nature in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel.
11 running and 10 swimming sections * (a total of 4.8 km) offer a lot of variety in this fjord-like landscape. Since 2020 there has been an additional loop through the Lichtenfeld ruins right at the beginning, followed by a swimming section along the impressive rocky landscape.
* If the water level is low, the swimming section to the small island in section 16 could be omitted!
The half-distance route can be mastered both individually and in a team.
The start and finish in front of Ottenstein Castle are a unique experience. The natural trails, the Lichtenfels ruins, some power places and surprises as well as wonderful views arise along the entire route.
New: in 2021, after the trial loop, the half marathon will lead directly in the swimming section past the campsite to the long running section in Mitterreith.
The start is at 10.30 a.m. depending on the current Covid-19 regulations in a block, in 15-second slots or together. The usual distance and hygiene regulations then generally apply to sports. This will be informed in advance.
The competition briefing takes place contactless via Facebook Lifestream on Saturday 2 p.m. and is then available online. It is mandatory to comply with all rules.
The half marathon route is identical to the marathon route. Therefore there will probably be some encounters with the starters of the marathon competition.
While the trial starters turn back to the castle at the first hotspot, the half marathon and marathon starter set off together on the long lap towards Zwettl.
