SwimRun Marathon
update 13th of August: the Dobra loop will be cancelled and conducted as a second loop on the half Marathon trail to sum iup for
38 km.
The pivotal point is Ottenstein Castle, which offers a unique panorama for the start and finish, but also registration, award ceremony, race briefing and the final banquet in medieval
surroundings.
The start and finish in front of Ottenstein Castle are a unique experience. The natural trails, the castles, ruins, some power places, rocky exits and some
surprises as well as wonderful views arise on the whole route.
Experience has shown that the water temperature at the Ottenstein reservoir is between 18 and 20 degrees. T
The start is at 9 a.m. - new Solo and relay possible. Depending on the current Covid-19 regulations in a block, in 15 second slots or together. The usual
distance and hygiene regulations then generally apply to sports. This will be informed in advance.
The race briefing via Facebook livestream for the participants the evening before at 2 p.m. is mandatory in order to be briefed on all rules and instructions. (The briefing is
then available as a video).
The route is identical to the 2nd and 3rd loop of the half marathon starters and so there will be some encounters with the starters of the other distances when you run up to these participants
from the marathon loop at Dobra reservoir.
In 2022 there will be a small change in the route: after the trial loop over the Lichtenfels ruins, you will swim directly to the campsite and than to the loop to Mitterreith.
Attention:
There are 2 cut-off points on the marathon route, which are based on the experiences of the slowest participants and can be seen in the route overview.
1st cut- Point 18 , beginning of second loop 13.00
2nd cut - Point 21 , Mitterreith - Deckerspitz, at 14.10
A total of 6 refreshment points with iso and carbohydrates, salty pastries, and in colder temperatures with tea / soup will strengthen you accordingly.
Hints:
- Experience shows that the water temperature at the Ottenstein reservoir is usually between 18 and 20 degrees. The latest information and guidelines regarding clothing (neoprene ban etc.) are
available at least 1 week before the competition.
- Marking: unfortunately you have to reckon with people who remove route markings. For this reason, in 2020 more emphasis will be placed on triple marking with tapes, floor markings and signs. In
addition, there is a graphic representation of the next section for each route section.
- Rating classes - in addition to m / f / mixed, there is a split into under 90 and 90 +
* If the water level is low, the swimming section to the small island section 17 could be omitted.
