SwimRun Sprint Distance - New
The pivotal point is Ottenstein Castle, which offers a unique panorama for the start, finish, but also registration, award ceremony and race briefing in a medieval setting.
The participants over the sprint distance experience the core of the Ottenstein reservoir in the immediate vicinity of the dam.
Five running and four swimming sections offer a lot of variety.
Start and finish in front of Ottenstein Castle is definitely a unique experience. The natural trails, the Lichtenfeld ruins, some power places and wonderful views arise along the whole route.
In addition to the trial distance, the route takes place on the half marathon distance into the solitude of the Waldviertel with the scenic highlight of a small island, which can be reached by swimming or over a small headland, depending on the water level, and over a longer swimming distance (which is usually swum with a tail wind to facilitate leads back to the campsite and the final Queruni to the castle.
The start is at 11.00 a.m. depending on the current Covid-19 regulations in a block, in 15 second slots or together. The usual distance and hygiene regulations then generally apply to sports. This will be informed in advance.
The race briefing will take place interactively from Saturday 6:00 p.m. via Facebook livestream on the Backwaterman Facebook page. The briefing is then available as a video. The interactive race briefing is on all rules and pointers
to be observed as mandatory!
The sprint route can be mastered both individually and in a team.
Hints:
The water temperature at the Ottenstein reservoir is 20 to 22 degrees. The latest information and guidelines on clothing (neoprene ban, etc.) are available at least 1 week before the competition.
Route marking: Unfortunately, you have to expect people to remove the route markings. For this reason, more emphasis is placed on triple marking with tapes, floor markings and signs. In addition, a graphic representation of the next route section is available for each route section.
Be careful, turn to the castle in good time, otherwise it could take longer inadvertently! :))
While the sprint starters turn back to the castle at the first hotspot, half marathon and marathon starters set off together on the long lap towards Zwettl.
Please be aware of our mandatory rules !
