SwimRun half marathon

with European Championships  Team and Solo

The pivotal point is Ottenstein Castle, which offers a unique panorama for the start and finish, as well as registration, award ceremony, race briefing and the final banquet in a medieval setting.

The participants over the half-marathon distance experience the most important part of the Ottenstein reservoir with its untouched nature in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel.

9 running and 8 swimming sections * (a total of 2.8 km) offer a lot of variety in this fjord-like landscape.

Attention: Because of the half marathon championships, the marathon starters will also be able to score for the half marathon championships. For that purpose, the exact half-marathon route will be run together to the finish. For the marathon starters the track will lead to (if necessary after  refreshments) a further 10 km loop, thus enabling a double evaluation of half-marathon and marathon.

This is just valid for the Team Starters of the Marathon because there is the separate Championships for Marathon Solo.

* If the water level is low, the swimming section to the small island in section 10 could be omitted!

The half-distance route can be mastered both individually and in a team.

The start and finish in front of Ottenstein Castle are a unique experience. The natural trails, the Lichtenfels ruins, some power places and surprises as well as wonderful views arise along the entire route.

New: in 2023 the rout is completly rediesigned. After a loop in the park of the castle the half marathon will lead directly to the reservoir and offers a new route with new parts or a different diredtion of the previous parts with new perspectives.

The start is at 9.30 a.m. together with all other distances.

The competition briefing takes place contactless via Facebook Lifestream on Saturday 4 p.m. and is then available online. It is mandatory to comply with all rules.

The half marathon route is identical to the marathon route.

Hints:

- Experience shows that the water temperature at the Ottenstein reservoir in Juli is between 22 and 25 degrees. The latest information and guidelines regarding clothing (e.g. neoprene ban etc.) are available at least 1 week before the competition.

Route marking: Unfortunately you have to reckon with people who remove route markings. Therefor emphasis will  be placed on 3-fold marking with tapes, floor markings and signs. In addition, there is a graphic representation of the next section for each route section.

Attention: Split evaluation for teams: Teams under 90 years of age and 90+ years of age are also evaluated.

Please be aware of our mandatory rules
