SwimRun Marathon
Attention:
Because of the half marathon championships, the marathon team starters will also be able to score for the half marathon team championships. For that purpose, the exact half-marathon route will be run together to the finish.
For the marathon starters the track will lead to (if necessary after refreshments) to a further 10 km loop, thus enabling a double evaluation of half-marathon and marathon.
For Marathon Solo Starters there will be only the marathon Championships valid.
The pivotal point is Ottenstein Castle, which offers a unique panorama for the start and finish, but also registration, award
ceremony, race briefing and the final banquet in medieval surroundings.
The start and finish in front of Ottenstein Castle are a unique experience. The natural trails, the castles, ruins, some power places, rocky exits and some
surprises as well as wonderful views arise on the whole route.
Experience has shown that the water temperature at the Ottenstein reservoir in July is between 22 and 25 degrees.
The start is at 9.30 a.m. - new Solo and Team.
The race briefing via Facebook livestream for the participants the evening before at 4 p.m. is mandatory in order to be briefed on all rules and instructions. (The briefing is
then available as a video).
The route is identical to the half marathon starters and will have an addional 10 k loop.
In 2023 we redesigned the whole course with new parts and parts which will be run from the other direction and offers therefore new perspective. In general the swim distances are shortened to an
average level.
Attention:
There will be one cut-off points on the marathon route, before the additonal loop after 23 k which are based on the experiences of the slowest participants and can be seen in the route
overview.
A total of 5 - 6 refreshment points with iso and carbohydrates, salty pastries, and in colder temperatures with tea / soup will strengthen you accordingly.
Hints:
- Experience shows that the water temperature at the Ottenstein reservoir is usually between 22 and 25 degrees. The latest information and guidelines regarding clothing (neoprene ban etc.) are
available at least 1 week before the competition.
- Marking: unfortunately you have to reckon with people who remove route markings. For this reason, more emphasis will be placed on triple marking with tapes, floor markings and signs. In
addition, there is a graphic representation of the next section for each route section.
- Rating classes - in addition to m / f / mixed, there is a split into under 90 and 90 +
* If the water level is low, the swimming section to the small island section 17 could be omitted.
