SwimRun Marathon

Attention: According to Corona rules we will have rolling starts of 15 sec. According to official government rules there must be at least 2 m distance between all athletes all time (in water and on trails)

The focal point is Schloss Ottenstein, which offers a unique panorama of start and finish, as well as registration, award ceremony, revenge lettering and closing banquet in a medieval castle.

The participants over the marathon distance experience the great nature of the Ottenstein reservoir with its untouched nature. 16 runs and 15 swimming sections (over 8.2 km - 1000 m the longest stretch of water) offer a lot of variety in this fjord-like landscape.

Start and finish in front of Ottenstein Castle is a unique experience. The nature trails, the castles, ruins, some power places, rocky exits and some surprises, as well as wonderful views arise on the whole route.

The circuit is identical to the 1st loop of the sprint and  identical to half marathon. So there will be some encounter with the starters of the other distances. According to Corona restrictions the Marathon track will lead to a 2nd loop of 12 k again on the Half-Marathon loop.

While the trial starters turn back to the castle at the central hotspot and boarding point, the half marathon and marathon starter are heading for the long lap towards Zwettel.

Attention: please turn left at the central refreshment point on the last loop.

There are 3 cut-off points on the marathon track, which will be based on the experiences of the slowest participants and will be evident from the route overview.

In total, 9 refreshment stations with water, iso drinks and carbohydrates(in colder temperatures with tea / soup) will strengthen you accordingly.

This race  starts at 9.00 - only as a team. The race briefing for the participants will be the evening before at 6 pm via Facebook Livestreaming. Questions can be posted and the video will be available afterwards as a video and is mandatory to watch  concerning all rules and hints.

- The water temperature is at the Ottensteiner reservoir lake experience 20 to 22 degrees. At least 1 week before the competition, there are the latest information and guidelines regarding clothing (neoprene prohibition, etc.)

- Marking: unfortunately you have to reckon with people who remove the markings. Because of this, in 2020, more emphasis will be placed on a 3-fold marking with ribbons, floor markings and signs. In addition, a graphic representation of the next route section is available for each route section.

- Rating classes - in addition to m / w / mixed, a split is made in under 90 and 90 +

* At low water level, the swimming section to the small island section 16 could be omitted.
